(Under Construction)
Through trial, error, hard work, determination and the desire to find out how the market “actually works”, I have been able to formulate a Trading Plan and Systematic Approach to managing my personal investments. Three plus years early into my investment career, it wasn’t until my Trading Plan and Systematic Approach was finalized and cemented in my being that I was able to efficiently and consistently start profiting from the market and protecting my capital. This systematic approach, initially provided me with the opportunity to start writing weekly commentary in 2016 and early 2017. Through late winter to the end of summer 2017, I was busy behind the scenes preparing material for a class and finally in the fall of 2017, I launched a Portfolio Management Room specifically geared for longer term investors. Each and every week, the Portfolio Management Room had three primary goals including;
- Analysing the Markets with a Simple, Technical, Systematic, Weight of the Evidence Approach;
- Providing a Quantitative Methodology in assessing portfolio allocations and;
- Providing Investment insights and investor education;
The Riverside Analytics General Approach
We review market sentiment using a Systematic Approach. This systematic approach involves “Looking” at the Weight of the Evidence. The “Look” at the weight of the evidence comes from a weekly open and un-biased view of the market. This un-biased view is based on facts and not opinions. Regardless of the area of the market, there is no preferential treatment to any index or sector, etc. Each index, sector, ETF, etc. is analysed with a fresh set of eyes each and every week and is subjected to the same level of scrutiny. We let the Weight of the Evidence produce a bullish or bearish thesis.
This approach, from a psychological perspective, helps in mitigating market biases, reduces investor emotions and further provides frame work to analyse existing positions and search for new opportunities in the market.
We use the Weight of the Evidence to stack the odds to our advantage.
